There is one page per active ingredient, 163 in all, each reproducing one manufacturer's label section by section without change, with the Structured Product Label set id and the date it was retrieved. 584 labels are stored; where several exist for one ingredient the page reprints the fullest and lists the rest.
What is in this section
One page per active ingredient or fixed combination. Each page reprints a single manufacturer’s FDA label: the indications, the dosage and administration section, the contraindications, the warnings, the precautions and the adverse reactions, in the label’s own words and in its own order. Where more than one manufacturer holds a label for the same ingredient, the page reprints the one with the fullest dosage section and lists the others by product and set id.
Where the labels come from
Every label is taken from the DailyMed animal label release published by the National Library of Medicine, which carries the complete set of FDA veterinary Structured Product Labels and is rebuilt daily. The whole release is read, and a label is kept when it carries both an indications section and a dosage section and is written for dogs or cats. The rest of the release, which is mostly grooming products, aquarium treatments and livestock products with no dosage section, is not shown, and every label left out is recorded with the reason.
Every page names the label it reprints, the manufacturer, the set id, the label’s own effective date and the date the release was retrieved. The stored copy is kept and hashed, and a check reads every published section back against it, so what you read here is what the label said on that date.
What is not in this section
There is no house summary, no comparison between drugs and no guidance on when to reach for one rather than another. Extra-label use is not covered: a drug used in dogs or cats without an approved veterinary label has no label to reprint and therefore has no page.
